Doctory

An app that gathers all patient data into a single platform, that will facilitate communication and documentation management between medical staff and patients.

Overview

Some industries continue to handle paperwork using antiquated techniques in an increasingly digital age. The healthcare industry is one of these. The concept for a medical management application originated from the necessity to gather all of the material shared between patients and doctors on a single platform and the desire to make this sector a bit more digital.

Both doctors and patients will be the target audience for the app.

Analysis

Through the competitive analysis, I found some platforms with similar functionalities.

CGM STUDIO:

  • Platform: Entirely cloud-based.
  • Target Audience: Primary care physicians.
  • Limitation: No app available for patients.

Doctor App:

  • Target Audience: Physicians, outpatient clinics, and patients.
  • Features: Allows management of appointments.
  • Limitations: Lacks a document management section.

CSW by HuCare:

  • Target Audience: Physicians and patients.
  • Features: Allows management of appointments.
  • Features: Allows management of patients’ medical records.

Note to Myself

The version of the app designed for physicians and their staff should be optimized for tablets, as they offer key advantages in the healthcare sector:

  • More portable than a computer, making it easier to use on the go.
  • Larger screen than a smartphone, providing a smoother experience for viewing information.

Needs:

  • being able to manage the easy way to communicate and document with patients.
  • digitize as much as possible all currently analog processes for convenience.

  • never remembers where she puts all the documentation related to the surgery.
  • always forgets to bring them to appointments.

Needs:

  • would like to not have to bring papers at every visit anymore.
  • would like to have everything on app so she doesn’t have to think about it every single time.

User Flows

The next step was to two different flows for medical staff and patients.

Accessiblity

One of the main goals that I set for myself was to make the app as accessible as possible to everyone. I believe that accessibility in healthcare applications (and in many other sectors) empowers individuals with disabilities to access essential healthcare services independently.

  • A color scheme was selected that is both aesthetically beautiful and usable for the visually impaired, such as the color blind.
  • The font selected was Lexend, fonts are intended to reduce visual stress and to improve reading performance.
